Saab sheds software unit as defence focus deepens

The sale of Public Safety Solutions to Norway's Omda transfers software products, customers and 75 employees

Saab will divest its Public Safety Solutions business to Norwegian Omda AS.

According to a company statement, completion of the transaction remains subject to customary conditions and is expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.

Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab's Surveillance business area, said the move reflects the company's strategic focus on its defence customers.

- This decision is in line with our strategic objectives and aims to provide Public Safety Solutions with the optimal conditions to advance, Bergholm said.

Saab Public Safety Solutions provides situational awareness and command-and-control software for mission-critical organisations, including police, fire and rescue services, airports and transport operators.

The systems are designed to support faster decision-making and more coordinated emergency responses.

Upon completion, Saab will transfer the Public Safety Solutions product unit to Omda, including its software portfolio, customer base and 75 employees.
